Charlton Oil & Propane Company Heating Oil FAQs

  • Do You Have a Minimum Delivery Policy?

    Yes, our minimum delivery of heating oil is 100 gallons. Any delivery under 100 gallons comes with an additional fee of $50.

  • Are Payment Options Available?

    Currently, all deliveries are cash on delivery (COD). Paying by cash, credit card, or check is available. Please note that check payments require a hold of an equal amount on a credit card, allowing us to maintain low, competitive rates for you.

  • What Happens if I Run Out of Heating Oil?

    Don’t worry. We provide a same-day delivery option at an additional charge. If you need us to restart your system, the delivery driver can prime your burner (depending on the type of unit) for a fee. Someone must be at home at the time of delivery for us to provide this service. If the driver is unable to start your unit, contact us for service.

  • What if I Miss the Driver and Still Need a Prime?

    A service technician can come out and prime your unit for a fee.

  • What’s Your Delivery Schedule?

    We aim for next-day deliveries. At times, depending on the weather, it may take up to three days. Call us and one of our customer service representatives can tell you what our current schedule is.

  • Are Tank Inspections Required?

    Yes. We do require that all oil tanks be inspected by the driver at no charge on your first delivery, or if your last delivery was more than 12 months ago. An adult (age 18 or older) must be present.

  • Why Are Tank Inspections Necessary?

    Tank inspections are for safety. We check the integrity of the tank to ensure it hasn’t been compromised. An adult (age 18 or older) must be home for the inspection.

  • What Do I Do if My Tank Is Compromised?

    Talk with one of our professional service representatives about your replacement options. This does require a site visit, and someone age 18 or older must be present. 

  • If My Oil Tank Was Recently Replaced, Do I Still Need an Inspection?

    If your oil tank or line was replaced by someone other than a representative of Charlton Oil & Propane Company, we need a copy of the approved permit and we’ll still require a tank inspection prior to adding oil.


  • How Do I Reach You for After-Hours Delivery?

    Call our office. We provide 24/7 on-call service for our delivery drivers.

  • Do You Offer Discounts?

    No. We keep our costs low for everyone.

  • Do You Accept Fuel Assistance?

    Yes. You must qualify for their program and apply through their office. For details, go to our Customer Resources page.
