Oil

What is your minimum delivery? Our minimum delivery of oil is 100 gallons.

What are your payment options? At this time all deliveries are on a COD (Cash on Delivery) basis. You do have the option to pay by Cash, Card, or Check but note that all check payments require a hold of an equal amount on a credit card. This helps us keep our costs low and competitive.

What if I run out of oil? We offer a same day option at an additional charge. If you need us to restart your system the driver who delivers can prime your burner depending on the unit for a fee, as long as someone is home at the time of delivery. If the driver is unable to start your unit for whatever reason you will need to contact the office for service.

What if I miss the driver on a same day delivery and still need a prime? If you missed the driver we do have the option to have a service technician come out and prime your unit for a fee.

What is your delivery schedule? We strive to deliver to our customers the next day, however at times due to weather we can take up to 3 business days. The customer service representatives on the phone can let you know what our current schedule is.

Do you need to do a tank inspection? We do require that all oil tanks be inspected by the driver at no charge on your first delivery or if your delivery was over 12 months ago. Someone over the age of 18 will need to be present for this.

Why do you need a tank inspection? Tank inspections are done for safety reasons. We check the integrity of the tank to insure that the tank is not compromised prior to adding additional oil for the customers safety. Please note that someone over the age of 18 will need to be home for the inspection.

What if my oil tank is compromised? If your tank is compromised you can talk with any of our professional service representatives about your replacement options. Please note this does require a site visit and someone over the age of 18 to be home.

My oil tank was recently replaced do I need an inspection? If your oil tank or line was replaced by anyone other then Charlton Oil & Propane we do need a copy of the approved permit and we do require a tank inspection prior to adding oil. This is to not only check integrity but to ensure your safety.

How do I contact you for a delivery after hours? You can still call our office at 508-248-9797, we offer a 24/7 on call for our delivery drivers.

Propane

What is your minimum delivery for propane? At this time we do require that all propane tanks be filled at the time of delivery.

What are your payment options? At this time all deliveries are on a COD (Cash on Delivery) basis. You do have the option to pay by Cash, Card, or Check but note that all check payments require a hold of an equal amount on a credit card. This helps us keep our costs low and competitive.

Do you offer locked in rates or a pre-buy program? We do not lock in anyone for a specific price or offer pre-buy options at this time. You can however do an informal budget but will need to have enough money to cover a delivery prior to one being made.

Why do I have to pay up front for my delivery? At this time all customers are on a COD basis. This ensures that we are able to keep our costs low and offer our customers the absolute best price per gallon.

I own my propane tank. Are you able to deliver to me? As long as you are able to provide proof of ownership (IE an invoice) we will deliver. At the time of the delivery a driver will do a 5 point safety check If this safety check fails the driver will be unable to deliver at that time.

I have another company can you deliver to my tank? State law prohibits one company from filling another companies tank.

Why can’t I get a simple answer of what my price per gallon will be for my delivery? Due to our pricing being based off a drop rather than the number of gallons used in the previous heating season there is no way to know until the delivery has been made. Our website homepage does offer our most up to date pricing bracket.

Why do I have to pay a low usage fee? Lease fees are standard in the industry. This fee is charged because of the high costs associated with maintenance, purchase rates, and replacement costs associated with installed equipment.

I ran out of propane what do I do? When you run out of propane you will want to contact the office for a delivery. Please note that before propane can be reintroduced the driver will need to do a leak test, that requires someone over the age of 18 to be home.

Why do I need to have a leak test and pay for it? A propane leak test needs to be done anytime your service is interrupted, this includes running out of propane. An interruption of service is anything that interrupts the flow of propane going through your system. There is a fee for this test as you are paying for the driver or service technicians time for the test. Please note it is a lot more then just spraying soapy water on the piping.

How can I tell I have a gas leak? By the odor! For your safety and protection an additive is added to the propane to make it easily and quickly detectable. Please take the time to go through the propane safety pamphlet with each member of your family and take advantage of the scratch and sniff option that allows you to recognize the odor even faster.

What should I do if I smell propane? Immediately take action! Extinguish all flames and smoking materials. DO NOT touch any light switches or start ANY appliances. Any spark can ignite the gas. Promptly get out of any enclosed space (IE your home or RV). If it is safe to do so shut off the propane tank. Once you are safely out of the home call the office at 508-248-9797. No matter the time of day or night we have a 24/7 on call service for this. Do not hesitate to contact the office if you think you smell propane.
